F1 announces its 24-race calendar, including the Las Vegas Grand Prix
Formula 1 (F1) announced a 24-race calendar for the 2024 season, approved by the World Motor Sport Council. The season opened in Bahrain and finished in Abu Dhabi, with races in 20 different countries. The Las Vegas Grand Prix was scheduled for 21 to 23 November 2024.

Saturday races on the calendar
Bahrain and Saudi Arabia joined Las Vegas as the three Saturday races on the calendar. The two Middle Eastern races moved to a Saturday to fit Ramadan, a period of fasting, prayer and reflection observed by Muslims around the world. The inaugural Las Vegas Grand Prix took place on Saturday 18 November 2023, the first Saturday race since 1985.
24 races in 20 countries
The season kept the traditional three-week summer break in August, with an extra three-week pause between Singapore and Austin and a two-week break between Brazil and Las Vegas. The Chinese Grand Prix returned to the calendar for the first time since 2019, after the COVID-19 pandemic.
The first Las Vegas Grand Prix
Formula 1 had last raced in Las Vegas 41 years earlier. The inaugural Las Vegas Grand Prix was held from 16 to 18 November 2023 on a 3.8-mile street circuit around Las Vegas Boulevard, Koval Lane, and Harmon and Sands avenues. Over the 50-lap race, drivers were expected to reach speeds of up to 212 mph.
